How to Compress an Image to 300KB or Less

If a form rejects your photo because it is larger than 300KB, you can set a target size directly and verify the result before uploading it.

✓ No account required

Fastest method

  1. Open the Image Compressor.
  2. Choose the photo and enter 300 as the target size in KB.
  3. Select JPG or WEBP, then compress the image.
  4. Confirm that the output is at or below 300KB and that important text or faces are still clear.

Use a little margin when the rule says “under 300KB”

If a website requires a file to be strictly below 300KB, use a target such as 290KB rather than sitting exactly on the boundary.

JPG or WEBP?

JPG is the safer choice when broad compatibility matters. WEBP can be smaller, but only use it when the destination accepts WEBP files.
